Islamic boarding schools—red. Pesantren, as educational institutions in Indonesia were born from rural areas and the concept of pesantren education is a traditional so that it easily accepted by wider community. The establishment counterweight to formal aims produce human characters suit changing civilization. Along with times, are able adapt without losing old traditions teachings. research uses descriptive-qualitative method, included library research. This article elaborates Pesantren an Indonesiacentric perspective. From study conducted, can be seen during colonial period, schools Dutch (West) government had dialectical-resistanceist relationship. On other hand, this modern era, tend more dialectical-negotiable towards developments or systems originating West.
